DiagramAR 1.1.1

Understanding complex three-dimensional diagrams within the limitations of two-dimensional textbook pages is a challenge many students encounter. DiagramAR offers a solution by converting 2D Matplotlib figures from lecture notes into immersive augmented reality (AR) visualizations in real-time. This functionality allows users to interact with figures in their physical environment and manipulate the underlying equations.

When an instructor generates a 2D figure, its attributes are stored in a JSON file. This file can be conveniently integrated into the DiagramAR app through a menu system or encoded as a QR code placed adjacent to the 2D figure in lecture materials. For simpler figures with smaller JSON files, the app can decode a JSON string directly from the QR code, enabling functionality without requiring an internet connection.

The integration of AR figures within the DiagramAR app occurs seamlessly as part of the lecture preparation process, demanding minimal additional effort from both students and instructors.

Originally developed at Boston University, this application aims to enhance the teaching of introductory linear algebra and currently provides visualizations for key concepts, including vectors, lines, planes, and curved surfaces.
